Overview

As of EchoSystem 5.4, Service Pack 5, it is now It is possible to perform a factory reset on SafeCapture HD devices via the reset button on the back of the device.  Note that the reset process can take up to 10 minutes. Ensure that the unit does not lose power or is restarted during this window. As with all factory resets, any existing captures on the unit will be lost as a part of the process.

Lastly, all new SafeCapture HD's manufactured after March 2015 will contain the push button factory reset functionality out of the box.

Prerequisite to supporting the factory reset

The push button factory reset functionality is supported upon upgrading your EchoSystem and all of your SafeCapture HD devices to EchoSystem 5.4, Service Pack 5. 

If you have not yet upgraded to EchoSystem 5.4, Service Pack 5 and need this functionality, you must use the device-reset.tgz script (via USB thumb drive) which will reset the SafeCapture HD, as well as put the push button factory reset functionality code onto the device.  So after the initial reset via the device-reset.tgz script, subsequent reset attempts can be done using the reset button on the back of the device.
